The load pin is the first part we instrumented, but our approach also applies to other mechanical parts.
What we doWhat we do
It involves instrumenting a mechanical part so that it indicates the load it transmits, without altering its function, its dimensions or its place in the assembly.
This work brings together two distinct skills from mechanical design, namely instrumentation and calibration. It is indeed the latter that determines the quality of the result: without rigorous calibration, an instrumented part does display a value, but that value does not strictly speaking constitute a measurement.
EligibilityThe type of enquiry that fits
We work with professionals, on existing parts whose use is known. For us to be able to look into it, a request must in practice bring together three elements:
- 01 — A part
- Identified, that you already manufacture, fit or use, accompanied by its drawing or a sample.
- 02 — A use
- Precise, meaning what you will do with the measured value and who will be reading it.
- 03 — A volume
- Envisaged, even approximate or small.
This last point is in no way a disguised commercial question: instrumenting a single part and instrumenting a series part are indeed two different problems, which do not call for the same technical answer.
How it works
A first call
You describe the part to us and what you are trying to find out, and we tell you whether the subject falls within our expertise. This exchange is free, without commitment, and is most often enough to decide.
A study
If the subject is relevant, we set out what can be measured, how, and within what limits, as well as what this implies on your side.
The development
We then handle the realisation, calibration and testing, through to the delivery of a first series.
What belongs to you
Your part stays yours: the drawings, characteristics and usage information you send us are not used for any other project.
Our instrumentation and calibration methods, on the other hand, remain our own property and continue to serve our other work, which incidentally helps reduce the cost of each new part handled. This split is set out in the contract before work begins.
PositioningWhy us rather than a sensor supplier
An off-the-shelf sensor imposes its own shape and requires room to be made for it, which remains feasible on a machine but much less so on a boat, where space, load transfer and accessibility are all tightly constrained. We therefore take the problem the other way round, starting from your part to fit the measurement inside it.
