The load pin

Replacing an axle in your rigging with a load pin of the same dimensions lets you know exactly what tension that rigging is set to.

Replacement

What it replaces

The load pin replaces a standard standing-rigging axle, to the same dimensions and in the same place as the one you already fit. The turnbuckle, chainplate, wire and setting otherwise remain unchanged, so the rigging stays the one built by the yard.

Fitting

How it is fitted

Fitting it is identical to fitting a standard axle: simply remove the cotter pin, take out the original axle, put the load pin in place, then replace the cotter pin. It therefore requires no special tooling, no extra dismantling and no prior training.

Reading

How it is read

Reading is done on board, at the foot of the mast or directly at the chainplate, by connecting the reading device to the load pin, and the value is then displayed immediately. By default, it requires no network, account or software; integration with an existing digital ecosystem nonetheless remains possible on request.

What it does not require

Power supply: None, the load pin contains no battery.
Radio: No emission, and so nothing to pair or reconfigure.
Server and account: None, and therefore no subscription to renew.
Software: None, to read a value.
Calibration: Specific to each load pin, it is not kept by us, and reading it does not depend on any of our services.

A fitted load pin therefore remains readable entirely independently (see the Company page).

Scope

For which boats

The load pin is designed for cruising sailing yachts and catamarans, and we offer it to rigging professionals, for new installations as well as re-rigging. Its first versions have already been tested on cruising catamarans of 40 to 45 feet.
