Frequently asked questions
Does the rigging need to be modified?
No. The load pin takes the place of a standard axle, to the same dimensions. The turnbuckle, the chainplate and the wire stay the yard's own.
Nothing is added to the boat: no housing to fix, no drilling, no bracket to weld or glue.
Does fitting it require special tooling?
No. Fitting it is like fitting any axle: cotter pin removed, axle taken out, load pin put in place, cotter pin replaced.
No special tooling, no extra dismantling, no prior training.
Can it be installed on a boat that is already rigged?
Yes. That is even the most common case. The work is carried out during a dismantling you are already doing, whether re-rigging or inspection.
On which boats and which references does it work?
Almost all cruising sailing yachts, monohulls and multihulls alike. In practice, smaller axles can be more complicated to instrument, so we generally work on boats over 35 feet. In any case, feel free to contact us with your references.
Is there anything to recharge, plug in or renew?
No, nothing.
There is no power supply in the load pin, so no battery to replace. There is no radio emission, so nothing to pair or reconfigure. There is no account to create, no software to install, no payment to renew every year.
The load pin is paid for once. Reading is done by plugging in the reading device, taking the value, then unplugging it.
Does reading the value require a particular skill?
No. Reading is done on board, at the foot of the mast or at the chainplate, with no intermediate interpretation.
What happens to a load pin already fitted if Fanao Solutions disappears?
It keeps working exactly as before.
The load pin measures locally and its calibration belongs to it: it is not kept by us and reading it does not depend on any service we operate. A fitted load pin can be read without us.
This is a design choice we stand by, set out further on the Company page.
A question that isn't here?
The simplest way is to call.
