Does the rigging need to be modified?
No. The load pin takes the place of a standard axle, to the same dimensions, and the turnbuckle, chainplate and wire remain the original ones.
No element is added to the boat either: there is no housing to fix, no drilling, no bracket to weld or glue.
Does fitting it require special tooling?
No. Fitting is the same as for a standard axle (cotter pin removed, original axle taken out, load pin put in place, cotter pin replaced) and requires no extra dismantling or training.
Can it be installed on a boat that is already rigged?
Yes, this is in fact the most common case. The work can indeed be carried out during a dismantling already planned, whether for re-rigging or for an inspection.
On which boats and which references does it work?
The load pin suits almost all cruising sailing yachts, monohulls and multihulls alike. As small-diameter axles are nonetheless more difficult to instrument, we work in practice mostly on boats over 35 feet. In any case, feel free to send us your references.
Is there anything to recharge, plug in or renew?
No. The load pin contains no power supply and therefore requires no battery replacement; it does not emit by radio either, so it does not need to be paired. Finally, there is no account to create, no software to install and no subscription: the load pin is paid for once, and reading it simply involves plugging in the reading device, taking the value, then unplugging it.
Does reading the value require a particular skill?
None. The value is read directly on board, at the foot of the mast or at the chainplate, with no intermediate interpretation.
What happens to a load pin already fitted if Fanao Solutions disappears?
It continues to work exactly as before.
The load pin indeed measures locally and its calibration is specific to it, so that reading it does not depend on any of our services. This choice is detailed on the Company page.
